Welcome to Religion Compass Exchanges!
Welcome to this new discussion forum, edited by Robert Segal (University of Aberdeen).
This is the companion forum to Wiley-Blackwell’s on-line survey journal, Religion Compass, and our regular contributors are drawn partly from the journal’s international team of section editors and editorial board members.
Robert Segal will commission several new discussions every year, consisting of an initial ‘starter’ post outlining an issue, followed shortly thereafter by responses from the community. Some of this commentary will be specially invited, but we strongly encourage other members to become involved in the discussion. Each ‘exchange’ will be created by prominent scholars within that particular subject area, and will deal with things of most import to professional scholars of religious studies. Just as Religion Compass articles survey recent trends in the extant academic literature, so it is hoped that this forum will become a complementary forum for debate. The aim is to publish content that maintains a stimulating balance between scholarly rigour and free-form discussion.
The first ‘exchanges’ were put online at the beginning of 2008… but watch this space for more topical content in the coming time! In the meantime, you can download our Notes for Contributors, here.
Contributors are asked to ensure their postings remain academic in nature. All section editors and editorial board members of Religion Compass are entitled to post to this group forum. The core content is especially commissioned, but we are also keen to encourage guest writers – feel free to drop me an email if you think you’d like to participate. For example, perhaps you are attending an upcoming conference and would be interested in writing a post for the benefit of those who can’t attend. We are open to ideas, although the our core content will be topical and scholarly discussion. We sincerely hope you enjoy the debate and commentary on this forum.
Best wishes,
